Bach-Piazzolla The Art of Fugue

Two geniuses – two eras. The classical perfection of Johann Sebastian Bach and the passionate temperament of Astor Piazzolla are intertwined in a unique musical dialogue. The refined polyphony of the Baroque meets the passionate rhythms of the Tango, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

The concert "Bach-Piazzolla. The Art of Fugue" in Kyiv will take place on February 22 at 3:00 PM at the Museum of Books and Printing of Ukraine.

Bach-Piazzolla. The Art of the Fugue

  • Rizol Quartet

Did Bach write tango? NO.

But Piazzolla wrote fugues, by the way, very skillfully! But still, everything ended with...tango.

So, what, it would seem, could unite the most outstanding creator of fugues of the Baroque era, Johann Sebastian Bach, and the most outstanding composer in the tango genre of the second half of the 20th century, Astor Piazzolla?

This is the logic of the fugue, a musical form that has been able to breathe, inspire, and transform throughout entire eras: Baroque, Classicism, Romanticism, and the 20th century.

So, the "Great Astor" could not resist such beauty either - he not only successfully used fugue elements in his works, but also wrote a number of fascinating and unique fugues himself.
