We remember many bright voices of the twentieth century thanks to cassettes and records. Few of them have survived to this day - they forgot about someone, someone left the show business voluntarily. But this cannot be said about Chris Norman, the legendary rocker who next year will celebrate his 70th anniversary with a massive world tour and will not pass Odessa by.
The fate of Chris Norman was predetermined in childhood. His father gave him the first guitar at the age of seven, and the albums of Elvis Presley and Little Richard were erased at home on the player.
Chris's first major achievement was the British pop-rock band Smokie. In its composition, Norman conquered the European charts album after album. It’s enough to listen to songs like What Can I Do, Living Next Door To Alice, I'll Meet You At Midnight to understand that the impregnable peaks of the charts had no chance.
Chris Norman achieved great fame and solo. Moreover, he got it from the very first single - a joint song with the American singer Susie Quattro called Stumblin 'In. Their duet became an international hit and hit the top 10 all kinds of charts, including the American one.
In 1986, Norman left Smokie and went on a solo voyage, where he remains to this day. During this time, he managed to release more than two dozen studio albums, which he presents with enviable constancy - once every two years.
The latest release, Don’t Knock The Rock, was released in 2017 and showed that the craving for creativity did not leave Chris: of the 14 songs on the album, 13 were written personally by the musician without any help.
Chris Norman's upcoming anniversary tour is certainly a unique event. The concert in Odessa is not only the main hits, but also the ability to use songs to go through the entire career of a musician from beginning to end and find out how Chris Norman inscribed himself in the history of rock and roll.
