The Dragon is a complex woven knot of fabulous images, ancient archetypes and frightening analogies.
The play is staged by E. Schwartz's play of the same name, in which the playwright portrayed in a big way the unpleasant but obvious truth: the resistance to violence is no less evil than violence itself.
Volodymyr Goryansky (both actor and director) gave this idea the form of a bright fairy tale, provided the characters with songs and the stage with elaborate scenery and a jazz band.
Together with Knight Lancelot, we find ourselves in a city that has been living under the tyranny of the Dragon for several centuries. Often, someone is eaten, but, in general, the townspeople consider life under the rule of the Dragon is not so bad.
Our hero stands up for the citizens and tries to release them, but finds that they do not need freedom at all. They cannot and do not want to live without their hands raised with a whip. Where is the root cause of this cruelty? What kind of dragon do you need to kill to stop it - the one outside, with fangs and claws? Or what's inside, with humility and non-intervention?
It's hard to believe, but there are plenty of funny moments and jokes in the performance that will make you cry to tears.
Buy a ticket and come to the Dragon to be amazed at the relevance of this fabulous production.
