We invite you to immerse yourself in the sound and aesthetic universe of 19th century Vienna and listen to the music of the incomparable Johann Strauss, the creator of the most famous waltzes in the world. Virtuosos from the Kyiv Mozart Orchestra prepared a special program of the artist's greatest works.
The name of Johann Strauss is primarily associated with Vienna and, of course, with the Viennese waltz. This is not surprising, because during his creative career he wrote about 500 pieces of dance music, including various waltzes, polkas and mazurkas, and also raised the tradition of performing these dance genres to a new artistic level.
The " Strauss " concert program contains precious gems of Johann Strauss' creative work. You will hear one of the most famous waltzes, which is called "On the beautiful blue Danube". The instrumental version of this waltz, which premiered in 1867 at the Universal Exhibition in Paris, was a huge success, and the sheet music of the piece sold a million copies. Today, this work has not lost its relevance, charm and appeal to listeners. It is traditionally performed at the New Year's concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and it also has the status of the unofficial anthem of Austria.
During his lifetime, Johann Strauss became famous not only for his waltzes. He is also an unsurpassed master of the operetta genre. He created 16 examples of this genre, which became classics, among them the most famous are "Bat", "Night in Venice" and "Gypsy Baron". In the field of operetta, the master managed to create his own unique style, a special kind of operetta, which was called "Viennese", in contrast to the Parisian operetta that prevailed at that time. At our concert, you will hear the waltz "Blood of Vienna", on the basis of which the operetta of the same name later arose.
Another piece that will be performed at the concert is the world-famous waltz "Spring Voices". Sometimes this waltz is performed by a solo soprano as an interlude aria in the operetta "Bat". This piece is meant to celebrate spring, and remains one of the most famous waltzes in the classical music repertoire.
Johann Strauss is quite deservedly called the "King of Waltzes". You can once again make sure of this and enjoy the exquisite skill of the composer at our concert. We are waiting for the meeting.
