The play “Iphigenia. Apotheosis ”was created by director Dmitry Kostyuminsky and composer Alexei Retinsky. The basis was the classical ancient Greek tragedy of Euripides “Iphigenia in Tauris” with the new conditions of theatrical expression: modern dramatic and visual language, the convergence of the actor and the audience, a stylistic synthesis of Greek choirs and live electronic music.

The Argos king Agamemnon had three children: the eldest daughter Iphigenia, the middle daughter Electra and the youngest son Orestes. When the Greek army went on a campaign against Troy, the goddess Artemis demanded that Agamemnon sacrifice his daughter Iphigenia to her. Agamemnon did this, but at the last moment Artemis took pity and saved her life, replacing her with a doe, and the girl was sent to distant Tauris, where she became a priestess in the temple. In an era of latent information warfare, changes in the social system and the geopolitical redivision of existing borders, Iphigenia, serving the goddess, fights on the last barricades of the endangered world. Iphigenia must prepare for the death of all the strangers that it brings to these lands. And then one day, after many years, during the rite of "Apotheosis" two friends are captured.
