1. Lyric opera that touches the soul.
2. The brightest work by Tchaikovsky.
3. Believe that a happy ending is always possible.
The opera "Iolanta" was created in 1891 and became the last in the work of Tchaikovsky. She rightfully bears the title of “the brightest opera” by the composer.
The libretto is based on the story that the Danish poet Heinrich Hertz described in the drama The Daughter of King Rene. Tchaikovsky wrote that it was this plot that would help him prove: lovers should remain alive in the finals of operas. Surprisingly, in the work all the characters are positive. The plot is simple, but filled with symbols and metaphors.
Somewhere in the south of France, the king lives. His daughter Iolanthe is blind, but she does not know about it. The girl has fun with her friends and does not even think of yearning. The Moor physician tells the king that Iolanthe can see clearly, but she herself must crave healing. The girl’s father rejects this option, because it seems to him that Iolanthe will not suffer the blow.
And suddenly a young princess is met by a knight named Vaudemont. In love with a girl, he tells her about how beautiful the world around is. And now for this act he faces death...
Be sure to come on stage to get inspired by the idea of the all-conquering power of love! And also find out how inextricably linked spiritual and physical insight.
The duration of the performance is 2 hours (with intermission).
We`re waiting for you!
