To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the great American composer with Ukrainian roots, Leonardo Bernstein, the project 'American Voices' has prepared a program that includes well-known compositions by the author, written specifically for Broadway.
Talented American musicians Kurt Ollman, Mackenzie Thomas and John Ferguson will give you an unforgettable evening full of stylish and charging hits of the great author.
There are many recipes for creating the perfect song. And apparently, Leonardo Bernstein knew them all.
The legendary composer and conductor, pianist and significant person in the music world since his childhood could boast of his unique ear and talent. He could play anything, surprising all his friends and acquaintances with the skill of improvisation. Teachers and mentors have always believed in his success and strongly supported. And not lost.
As he grew older, he only honed his mastery skills. Tours to concert halls and opera houses in Europe, the post of head of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the post of music consultant for the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, author of several books, winner of the Siemens Award. It seems that he was everywhere great and in demand.
Bernstein felt his first tangible success after the premiere of the ballet 'Sailors on the Sea', which he created together with his friend Aaron Copland.
This is the story of the three sailors who got the leave and went ashore in New York. The success of the ballet was so unforeseen that Bernstein and Robbins, having included several other people in their team, decided to write a musical for Broadway on the same plot. The musical "Dismissal to the City" was first shown on Broadway on December 28, 1944, after which he endured as many as 462 performances.
Despite the fact that Bernstein valued his reputation in the world of classical music, he still wrote incredible hits for Broadway, which won the hearts of millions of people.
And we will be able to enjoy them already on November 18, at exactly 19:00 in the House of Recording of the Ukrainian Radio. Marco Concert will happily share this truly atmospheric evening with you.
