This evening will immerse you in pleasant memories and fill your hearts with notes of light nostalgia. The incendiary melodies of Broadway and the lyrical ballads of the legendary trombonist, the genius of the arrangement and the leader of one of the best swinging orchestras in the world will sound on the beach of the South Coast.
"For me, the music of Glenn Miller is not today and not yesterday - it is beyond all time like a fire in the hearth. And it also heats."
- Boris Grebenshchikov
Glenn Miller became the owner of his first trombone at the age of 14 years and immediately began climbing to the music Olympus. In the 1920s and 30s, Miller worked with Ben Pollack, Red Nichols, Benny Goodman, and wrote arrangements for the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra. In 1937, Miller gathered his first big band, which unfortunately did not receive popularity. But already in 1938, Glenn Miller reassembled the orchestra from his old friends and their recommended musicians - saxophonists Hal McIntyre and Tex Beneke, trumpeter Bob Price, pianist Chammy McGregor, bassist Rolly Bandok, soloists Marion Hutton and Ray Eberly.
It was this golden composition that brought Miller popularity around the world. In addition to the popular Broadway melodies, themes from musicals and other "standards", the maestro offered listeners to lyric-romantic and elegiac ballads. It was these ballads that created a special style of the collective, which after a year does not lose its relevance. Many pieces of the orchestra became the so-called “Miller's Classics”: “Chattanooga Choo-Choo”, “Kalamazoo”, “Little Brown Jug”, “Pennsylvania 6-5000”, “String of Pearls” and the ballad of Miller’s authorship “Moonlight Serenade”.
Familiar melodies will play with fresh colors performed by one of the leading collectives of the country - the National Academic Brass Band of Ukraine. Founded in 1979, it still remains the only civilian brass band of this level. The team has repeatedly represented Ukraine abroad at brass music festivals and continues to collect full halls at home, presenting a wide variety of genres - from classical to jazz.
On the evening of August 15, we invite you to the coast of the South Coast of the South Coast, from where an incredible view of the evening city opens up and fascinating melodies of true classical jazz can be heard. We are waiting for you at 20:00.
