A native of Tel Aviv, who made a career in New York, Guy Mintus is a representative of a rare type of musicians who have achieved success in jazz and classical music at the same time. A magnificent concert pianist with the energy of a rock star, capable of “shaking” the stadium, he can manifest himself as a subtle lyricist performing insinuating vocal ballads to the accompaniment of a string trio.
He performs with world jazz legends such as Jimmy Owens (trumpeter Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie and others), multiple Grammy winners Jon Hendricks and Marcus Miller, Latin American jazz legends Arturo O'Farrill's Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Jimmy Co, jimmy Co, jimmy Co, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane) and others.
But Guy also writes music for academic orchestras (Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, American Composers Orchestra, Jerusalem East & West Orchestra, etc.) and gives more than 200 concerts with the orchestra a year.
He has toured Brazil, India, the USA, Israel and Europe, repeated performances on the stages of the Apollo Theater, the Lincoln Center, the Blue Note, Birdland and other cult clubs in New York.
The unique composer, whose author’s handwriting is a fusion of the cultures of the world with passion and passion Art Tatum and Thelonious Monk, Guy writes music that is loved by both critics and ordinary listeners. The multiple Grammy winner Arturo O'Farrill calls Guy "a mad scientist who creates music like no other." Even performing jazz standards, Mintus gives them an amazing "oriental" flavor, while maintaining the traditional jazz sound.
Guy Mintus has won numerous awards, ranging from the DownBeat Magazine's “Editors' Choice” and NY Music Daily “Album of the Year” to the Leonard Bernstein Award and winning the Montreux Jazz Festival.
