In his "Notes of the Zemstvo doctor" Bulgakov described various states of human consciousness: sleep and delirium, double and triple vision, bifurcation of the psyche, to whom. Survivors of surgery and illness, who knew shell-shock, or were exposed to drugs, this is well known.
The summer of 1917 is a turning point in the life of Mikhail Bulgakov. A doctor with diphtheria tries to get away from pain by resorting to morphine. Saves Bulgakov's wife, who gradually reduces the dose of the drug.
The story "Morphine" draws us two people who are on opposite sides of the disease. The author reveals his vision of the miracle of birth and the sacrament of death, defining the "neutral band" in the human psyche.
