Dear friends, on April 4, 2025 at 6:00 PM, we will welcome esteemed guests from Kharkiv and Kyiv in the Great Philharmonic Hall, and the National Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra is delighted to invite everyone to enjoy a unique musical evening!

You will hear the performance of pianist TETYANA SHAFRAN, who captivates the audience with her "rare combination of clarity and power" (All Music Guide) and "piercing, technically precise, and vivid" musicality.

The young Ukrainian pianist is no stranger to the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including Shenzhen Grand Theatre, Lindeman Hall and Palau de la Musica. She has won over 20 international piano competitions, including the Gold Medal at the renowned Olga Kern International Piano Competition and First Prize at the Concours International de Piano France-Amériques in Paris.

At the conductor's desk is People's Artist of Ukraine, maestro YURIY YANKO.

CONCERT PROGRAM:

  • Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54 by the sophisticated Romantic composer ROBERT SCHUMANN.

This piece will definitely make your heart beat faster, and some will shed a silent tear from the incredible beauty of the singing music.

Despite its three movements, the work retained the character of a fantasy. The main idea expressed in the concerto is the longing and happiness between two loving people. Schumann musically transforms the struggle for his love. And the composer's beloved, Clara Schumann, wrote about the concerto after the premiere: "... how rich in inventions, how interesting from beginning to end, how fresh and what a beautiful, holistic work!"

  • Symphony No. 2 by the key figure of classical music LUDWIG van BEETHOVEN.

Chronologically, the work on the work (1801-1802) coincides with dramatic events in Beethoven's life - the discovery of progressive deafness. "My poor hearing haunted me everywhere like a ghost, and I avoided human communication," the composer wrote. Yet, in an elevated spirit, he declares: "I will seize fate by the throat, and it will certainly not destroy me completely."

Therefore, Symphony No. 2 - bold, inspired, adventurous - generates and sustains cheerful enthusiasm, demonstrating the strength and determination of the composer, who finds the strength to resist fate.

Later, Hector Berlioz would write about this work: "Everything smiles in this symphony."

Don't deny yourself the true pleasure and inevitable catharsis after listening to such special music!
