After a 37-year break on the stage of the National Academic Theater of Russian Drama named after Lesia Ukrainka again the legendary play "Mocking my happiness."

The production was based on the play of the same name by Leonid Malyugin, which tells about the second half of the life of the famous literary genius Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1884-1904). His first creative successes, illness, heavy mental loneliness, heart torment and, finally, death in Yalta. The play was based on the surviving notes and essays of Anton Pavlovich himself, his wife Olga, sister Maria, brother Alexander, friends of the family Lika Mizinova and writer Maxim Gorky.

The writer’s not too eventful life is more than compensated by a seething spiritual volcano. The author of the play, and after him the director of the play Mikhail Reznikovich, managed to create the image of an ordinary living person who knows how to love, appreciate, cry and enjoy.

“I think the main thing lies in the play, that is, in the amazingly modern thoughts of Chekhov that sink into the soul of every person,” director Mikhail Reznikovich shares his impressions of the production. - They are so smart, subtle, piercing, confessional, truthful, paradoxical, figurative - they are for all time.
