On April 5, in the House of Architects as part of the “Silent Cinema and Jazz” program, Charlie Chaplin’s comedy “Circus” will be shown.
The comedy "Circus" continues the story of the adventures of the little vagabond Charlie.
Hero Chaplin runs away from the police and accidentally falls on the stage of the circus. His romp with the cops, he causes laughter and applause of the entire hall. The director of the circus has nothing to do but to invite the tramp to him and sign a contract with him. Charlie begins to tour with the circus, and soon falls in love with the daughter of the host Myrna. Can now a little tramp find long-awaited happiness?
The painting "Circus" was at the same time one of the funniest and saddest works of Chaplin. It raises problems that are relevant at all times: agonizing loneliness, social prejudices, an undivided feeling and a lack of understanding from society.
With the film "Circus" Chaplin was nominated for an Oscar as the best actor. But the American Film Academy decided to single it out and presented Chaplin with a special honorary award “For versatility and genius in acting, screenwriting, directing and producing skills”.
Accompanying the show will be pianist and jazz composer Pavel Ignatiev. Pavel is a graduate of the “Mozart Academy” of chamber and orchestral classical music (Austria) and special courses at the jazz department at the Hannover High School. He released 9 solo albums, collaborated with Sergey Babkin, the Bumbox group and many other Ukrainian musicians.
We invite you to a silent movie night to the sound of jazz. Show of the comedy "Circus" will be held April 5 at the House of Architects. Beginning at 20:00.
