“Number 13” - Ray Cooney’s play is a pure sitcom

For the third decade, "No. 13" has been successfully marching on the theatrical stages of the whole world. The play entered the Golden Fund of the British Theater, as one of the best English comedies of the twentieth century.

The action takes place in a hotel in room 13 ...

In the center of the story is the assistant to the Prime Minister of Great Britain Richard Willie, who decided to skip the parliamentary debate, preferring chatter to active action. He rents a hotel room and brings the secretary there.

Everything could have ended quite predictably, but the "third superfluous" appears on the scene - a private detective accidentally crushed by the window frame, spying on a couple from the balcony of the hotel room. Richard and secretary Jane are worried - where to put the corpse in order to avoid scandal! And then the attendants still interfere forever, then the suddenly arrived wife of Mr. Willie, then the jealous husband of the secretary ...

The horror is that every step only confuses the situation! The plot of the play is twisted and acquires new details and turns throughout the performance, making the audience laugh to tears ...
