On March 3, the opera Turandot will be held at the Opera House - the latest and most complex in the work of Giacomo Puccini.
The famous Italian composer caught on the idea of this opera in 1919. The plot is based on the play of playwright Carlo Gozzi, who wrote this “fairy tale for the theater” in 1761, based on the original source - the story of the Azerbaijani writer Nizami (XII century).
Puccini began work on opera in 1920, enlisting the support of librettists Renato Simoni and Giuseppe Adami. It must be said that the composer did not want to limit himself to composing music and also participated in the development of the libretto.
However, work on the opera "Turandot" was interrupted in 1924, when Puccini died of cancer. Therefore, the final duo of the main characters was then written by Franco Alfano, based on the author's drafts. Then a few more options were suggested.
Such a difficult fate of the work did not affect its beauty and value. Be sure to come to the opera, so that together with Calaf you can solve the riddles of the most beautiful Turandot.
Waiting for you!
