So, the staging takes place in the future. Eurydice died from a snake bite. In the cemetery, we see glowing balls instead of graves, it is in them that the souls are enclosed. Orpheus says goodbye to his beloved, but in fact he cannot accept the loss. With a desperate request, he turns to the gods.
And they agree: Orpheus can save his wife, but on one condition. He will fall into the surreal world with the help of virtual reality glasses, find Eurydice and be able to get her out of there, only if he doesn’t look at it even once.
The entrance to the world of the dead is blocked by evil furies. Terrible visions seem to Orpheus. And yet, with the power of art, the singer discovers his way into the underworld. Will Orpheus cope with the main condition when Eurydice will reproach him that he has fallen out of love with her? And what happens if he removes his glasses? Will love be stronger than all conditions and barriers?
Libretto by Ranieri de Calzabigi.
Directed by Pavel Koshka.
