Baroque music is a refined surface that shimmers with colors, plays with light and shade, inlays space and explodes with life's joys. But this is only a surface, it is held by a foundation and a stable structure that reminds us of the perfection of nature and its laws.
Classical music in the early Baroque era became a counterpart to drama, not its complement - the content becomes accessible through the transformation of words into a musical context, a sound image.
The easy way, however, lies through the plane of dialogue - imagine a consistent conversation between two people, their polemic around the basic values - love, loyalty, courage, determination, honor - the same qualities that help us defeat the enemy today. Then we will feel in the music a multitude of such attributes of dialogue, questions, proposals, statements and conclusions.
Think of how Italians communicate, and you'll hear it in the Italian Baroque style, the same goes for the French or the English. That was the basic tenet of that era - conversation through music, through an artistic sign or figure.
But how to understand this today?
Can you find an analogy?
Yes. Let's say, Cinema creates meaning through image, this even applies to the first "silent cinema", where the actor expresses meaning through gestures and emotions - and this, in turn, is one of the concepts of the Baroque. Therefore, the skill of an actor or musician-performer (instrumentalist), his mastery of the thin thread of language - is a true embodiment of the idea, not the manipulation of sounds, but a penetrating conversation.
The concert will feature works by Arcangelo Corelli, Joseph Bodin de Boismortier, Georg Philipp Telemann, Leonardo Leo, and bonuses...
Performers:
Yuriy Guran - traverse flute, organ
Maria Polyachok - violin
Ruslan Kozopas - violin
Nazar Kozhukhar - violin
Olga Boychuk – cello
Event duration – 1 hour
