Concert "Pie and Whip. Premiere of the album "Kolyadnytskyi" in Lviv
Pyrig and Batig is an original musical group that was created to reproduce original music that preserves the spirit and cultural characteristics of Ukrainians. "Sung poetry" or "declamation in verses" - this is how the members of the band define their style. The musicians' compositions are full of baroque, academic sound, as well as ethnic elements. They have a bright and virtuosic reinterpretation of the rich artistic heritage.A sung guide to Kolyad by the band Pirig and Batig

Pirig and Batig is the language of the Krai in musical, poetic and song form
Pyrig and Batig is a Lviv folk band created in 2020 by Maryan Pyrog. In addition to the founder of the project Maryan (vocals, guitar), the team today includes:- Markiyan Turkanyk (singing, violin);
- Lesyk Omodada (percussion);
- Kristov Vykov (bassoon);
- Yuri Khvostov (Oboe);
- Artem Kamenkov (double bass).
The name of the band owes the name of the founder to the word "Cake". And "whip" in the name of the project has a special, metaphorical meaning: it demonstrates the transition of the function of the whip from a punitive to an educational plane. After all, the band's work is the sung works of Ukrainian artists tortured by the Soviet authorities in the period 1918-1986.
