BIG SOLO CONCERT “PIE AND WHIP” AT “V'YAVA”
July 13 (Sunday)
“Pyrig i Batig” is a musical and poetic group whose goal is to popularize the language of our region. 2024 was a year of great transformation for the group. From the status of a niche folk group, known only in narrow circles of the intelligentsia of Lviv and Kyiv, “Pyrig i Batig” has turned into a real cultural phenomenon, around which a community of connoisseurs of the Ukrainian word is forming.
The band gave new life to the song "Gay Shumlyat" with lyrics by Pavlo Tychyna and presented the first part of the triptych "Zamordovani. Podzvin Persy" dedicated to the memory of Ukrainian artists destroyed by the Soviet regime. It features works by Vasyl Stus, Yevhen Pluzhnyk, Mykola Vorony, as well as the iconic "Shchedryk" by Mykola Leontovych.
In December, the collection "Kolyadnytsky" with 12 carols from different regions of Ukraine was published , which became another study of the ritual and linguistic traditions of our region.
From chamber performances in Kharkiv and the deoccupied villages of Slobozhanshchyna to the large stages of the National Philharmonic and the International Center for Contemporary Music in Kyiv, this year has been eventful.
On July 13, the band will meet with listeners again on the “V'YAVA” stage to share music that honors memory and unites!
⏰ July 13 (Sunday), 5:00 PM doors open, 7:00 PM concert begins
