Placido Domingo is a world-famous, multi-faceted artist. Recognized as one of the best and most influential opera singers in history, he is also the conductor and administrator of the Los Angeles opera as the general manager of the Eli Foundation and Edith Brod.
His repertoire includes 148 leading opera parts - more than any other tenor in history, with more than 3,900 appearances. He added 149 roles to his repertoire, performing Miller in "Louise Miller" at the Metropolitan Opera in the 2017-18 season. More than 100 of his recordings of full operas, arias and duets, and crossovers brought him 12 Grammy awards, including three Latin Grammys. Placido Domingo recorded more than 50 music videos and won 2 Emmy awards.
In addition to 3 opera films - Carmen, La Traviata and Othello, he voiced the role of Monte in the film "Baby from Beverly Hills" and played himself in "The Simpsons", his television recording "Tosca" from the authentic places of the Roman Opera saw more than a billion people in 117 countries. Subsequently, in a live broadcast of 2010, he performed the main part of Rigoletto in Mantua, the city from which the opera history takes place.
In 1990, he and his colleagues José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti took part in the joint concerts of the Three Tenors, which were a huge success all over the world and attracted millions of new admirers of the opera. Domingo conducted more than 500 opera performances and symphony concerts with the Metropolitan Opera, the London Royal Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Los Angeles Opera, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic. In 1993, Placido Domingo founded the international competition Operalia, which is still held annually. He is an honorary doctor of Oxford University and New York University for his lifelong commitment and participation in music and art.
He first performed as a baritone in 2009, performing the leading part of Simon Boccanegra in Berlin. Since then he has added several other parts for the baritone to his repertoire with performances in operas Rigoletto, Two Foscari, La Traviata, Nabucco, Jean D'Arc, Troubadour, Macbeth, Ernani "and" Don Carlos ". In recent seasons, Domingo was recognized as the baritone Atanael in the opera "Thais" by Jules Massenet and Gianni Schicchi in Puccini's opera.
