The comedy about adventurers and swindlers, although written a century and a half ago, remains very modern. Behind the screen of the classic plot, all the signs of our time are hidden: bribery, arbitrariness, lawlessness. And although the viewer laughs all the way through the performance, tearing up his stomach, in the finale a revelation awaits him. It turns out, laughter, through tears.

"The Inspector General" is a play full of Gogol's devilish jokes and comic situations. The slightly updated material in the play by Honored Artist of Ukraine Vyacheslav Zhyla sounds in a new, sharp and energetic way. Famous characters, unambiguous hints - the truth in the production is closely mixed with jokes.
