In the present performances of a large number of performers, a significant part of the repertoire is occupied by works of Sergiy Rakhmaninov. On the one hand, this indicates a growing interest in his work of new generations, but at the same time the commentary "how much can Rakhmaninov play?" Is heard quite often.
This paradox emerged in the twentieth century with the light hands of S. Prokofiev and M. Yudina, mainly because of their penchant for new works. But they also made sense of the fact that in most performances they created fairly identical performing content. This issue is based on a concert lecture by Yurii Dykyi with examples of the most famous artists of the past and present, as well as new interpretive possibilities.
