It is based on the comedy of the French playwright Pierre Beaumarchais.
Opera buffa is a genre characterized by mobility of action, funny buffoonery, parody, and brightness. It arose in the 18th century, and in the 19th century its tradition was actively supported by the genius Gioacchino Rossini. It was with the work “The Barber of Seville” that the story of the composer's European glory began.
The opera is uncomplicated. There is a young count in love with a girl (and she reciprocates him). And there is an old guardian of this girl who wants to marry her pupil in order to receive her inheritance. But in this opera there is another character - a clever Spaniard from Seville, a rogue and a rogue named Figaro. He will help the lovers.
Interestingly, Gioacchino Rossini wrote his opera in an amazingly short time (according to various sources, from 2 to 3 weeks). The composer worked with incredible enthusiasm, composing music everywhere - “when he walked, when he ate, and when he stood, he lay ...”. The premiere performance failed: a string burst from one actor, the other wounded. At the most inopportune moment, a cat appeared on the scene. But with the second show, the triumphal procession of the opera begins.
