Symphony concert in Dnipro
We invite you to a symphony concert that will be distinguished by its impressive depth and beauty! The sumptuous works of Brahms and Faure will be performed for you by the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Dnipropetrovsk Philharmonic. Conductor – Gregor Böttcher (Germany).
The concert program will include:
- One of Mykhailo Verbytskyi's symphonies will be played again. It is nice that the performance of the symphony is conducted by our guest from Germany, Gregor Böttcher.
- Robert Schuman. Concerto for cello with orchestra. The only one that is considered historically the first repertory concerto for cello with orchestra. Unfortunately, the composer never heard the performance of his work during his lifetime. Reason: there was no soloist who could perform the concert.
- Zoltan Kodai. Dances of Qalanta. Gallant dances. This piece was written in 1933 by order of the Budapest Philharmonic. The piece is based on the folk melodies of Galant (now part of Slovakia), where the composer lived for several years. The composer wrote: "At that time there was a popular gypsy ensemble. It was the first orchestral "sonority" that reached a child's ears."
- Edvard Grieg. Symphonic dances. "I exhausted the rich treasury of folk songs of my homeland, and from this, until now unexplored study of the Norwegian folk soul, I tried to create national art."
Performers: Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Dnipropetrovsk Philharmonic
Cello: Johanna SONTACCI, Austria
Conductor: Gregor Böttcher, Germany
We love it when our listeners ask: how about Bach and Kolodub in the same program? High - high classics - and folklore? And yes!
All the music of the world grew out of folklore! What will you do! This is what an outstanding composer said two hundred years ago: The people create music, and we, composers, only process it!
