1. A work that catches for a long time
2. Minimal design (on the stage - only one bench and two actors) and deep meaning
3. Modern directorial reading of the original history of the mid-20th century
Piercing - probably one of the most suitable definitions for a play that is offered for viewing. Performed by the actors of the National Academic Theater of Russian Drama named after Lesia Ukrainka - the tragicomedy “Bench”. The name is concise, but the content is infinitely capacious. Do not miss!
The plot of the play is based on the play of the same name by the famous playwright Alexander Gelman, which at one time was called the “masterpiece of social drama”. The work was published in the second half of the last century. It is all the more interesting to see him rethinking today.
“Bench” is an impeccable play of actors, it’s funny and sincere moments, coupled with subtle psychological episodes. A touching performance captivates with sincerity. It has everything: romance, intrigue and tension, the widest range of feelings - from hatred - to tenderness, from pain - to delightful enjoyment.
Deep staging makes the viewer think again: can there be universal, uniform definitions of such concepts as happiness, love? And is that harmony that you dream of so close? Some go to her all their lives, but someone does not find it. And this is our reality ...
