Your Lesya PS To every Drozdik
For decades, the image of Lesya Ukrainka has been shaped through the prism of canonized interpretations and artificially created myths. For some, she is a emasculated figure from a textbook, but for Sister Izydora, she was real.
It is through her story that Lesya Ukrainka appears not as a bronze monument, but as a living person: sharp, emotional, desperately in love with life, laughter and words. This is a conversation with memory that cleanses from Soviet layers and returns Lesya's voice. "She is stone, frozen in bronze, inscribed in textbooks. But I knew her differently. Not as an icon, but as a living person. Lesya, whom you did not know: inconvenient for canons, sharp, tender, stubborn." This performance is an attempt to hear Lesya, to touch her laughter, doubts, struggle, her humanity. Despite centuries of censorship, the memory of her brightly burns in us. Her word sprouts through pain, love, loss and faith.
Hard times pass. Strong texts remain. And the word that will always be the last. Because Lesya is a voice beyond the silence.
