"The Wedding" is the first performance of the "Garden of Divine Songs" project, built on traditional wedding songs from all over Ukraine.
“The dramaturgy of the play “The Wedding” consists of 28 ancient Ukrainian wedding songs, which, together with the set design and costumes, are woven into an extremely fragile, shimmering, and at the same time intricately executed lace of theatrical action.
This performance is not a recreation of a wedding ceremony, it is not ritual theater. The director, actresses, and artists speak to modern audiences in modern language on topics that are relevant at all times for all peoples and nations — about love, human relationships, man and woman, about lineage and family, children and parents.”
Sergey Vasiliev, theater critic
"Wedding" is the oldest living ritual that holds within itself a change, a secret of transition to another quality — a transition "through the Red Sea" — and is a sign of the times in which we live.
"A wedding is the eternal flowering of the Earth."
Natalia Polovinka, director of the play
