Creative group of the National Academic Theater of Russian Drama named after Lesia Ukrainka presents the drama "Enemy of the People."

The events of Henrik Ibsen’s play “Enemy of the People (Dr. Stockmann)” takes place in the century before last. But the problems raised in the work have not lost their relevance in modern society.

According to Lithuanian director Jonas Vaitkus, the play demonstrates to the viewer how dangerous an idea can be, which is taken to extremes. And the victims can be others, not just the author of the idea, going all-in, even with the brightest aspirations. The infantile belief that your progressive decisions will overcome any obstacles can lead to personal tragedy. Is such a fate awaiting the "enemy of the people" Dr. Stockmann? Or will the wall of hypocrisy and self-interest fall?

The viewer will have to answer these questions by observing the actions of the hero of the play by Stockmann. He finds out that the residents and guests of the spa town are threatened by pathogenic bacteria that have infected the town’s ponds. The good intention to help people turns into a confrontation between the doctor and the people.
