Jack and Charlie, Oxford students, are trying in every way to propose to their sweethearts Kitty and Annie, who are leaving for Scotland for the summer the next day, accompanied by their capricious Uncle Spetlage. At the same time, Charlie receives a telegram from his aunt, Donna Lucia d'Alvadorez, a millionaire from Brazil, about her arrival. Everything goes according to plan: breakfast, a rich aunt, a proposal.
But suddenly another telegram destroys all plans - Donna Lucia postpones her arrival for an indefinite period. The proposal without her aunt becomes impossible. Jack and Charlie's situation is saved by their friend, Lord Frankert Baberley, or Babs, who accidentally shows up in a woman's dress for the role of an "old woman" in a play at a local theater. Circumstances force the witty Babs to play the role of Lucia d'Alvadorez's sweet aunt from Brazil, help the young men get married, and also seduce both men - the unbearable Uncle Spetlage and Francis Chesney, the colonel.
An explosive mix of subtle English humor, the effect of cross-dressing and amazing reincarnation force the main characters of the play to invent and wriggle out of the most amazing circumstances every minute. And everything would be fine, if not for the sudden arrival of Charlie's real aunt...
