Lviv National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Solomiya Krushelnytska is one of the cultural landmarks of the city of Lviv, which has been a real attraction for connoisseurs of drama, ballet, music and other genres of art for more than a century. According to sources, in 1885, the city hall of Lviv, together with the residents of the city, collected about a million gold coins for the construction of the theater, and already in 1886, construction officially began. Located in the very heart of the city, the Lviv Opera House opened its doors to the audience on October 4, 1900 with the premiere of the dramatic opera Yanek by Vladyslav Zhelenskyi. World-famous performers and ballet masters performed on the stage of the theater, thousands of different performances were held, and the diversity of the repertoire could only be envied. Today, more than 40 soloists, a ballet and choral troupe of 120 artists and a symphony orchestra of 90 musicians work in the opera house. The repertoire of the theater includes 3 operettas, 22 operas and 20 ballets. All performances take place in the original language.
