The Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Solomiya Krushelnytska is one of the cultural landmarks of the city of Lviv, which for over a century has remained a real attraction for connoisseurs of drama, ballet, music and other genres of art. According to sources, in 1885, the Lviv City Hall together with the city residents collected about a million gold for the construction of the theater, and in 1886, construction officially began.
Located in the heart of the city, the Lviv Opera House opened its doors to the public on October 4, 1900 with the premiere of the dramatic opera "Yanek" by Vladislav Zhelensky. The theater stage has featured world-famous performers and choreographers, thousands of different performances have been staged, and the diversity of its repertoire could only be envied.
Today, the opera house employs over 40 soloists, a ballet and choral troupe of 120 artists, and a symphony orchestra of 90 musicians. The theater's repertoire includes 3 operettas, 22 operas, and 20 ballets. All performances are in the original language.
