Martin McDonagh - an Irish by birth, was born in London in the family of workers. Both of McDonagh's brothers, left alone, became writers. At age 16, Martin left school and sat down in front of a television set with chips and a cola for several years, living on unemployment. He will name his teachers, rather, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch or Quentin Tarantino, than William Shakespeare. As an example of Michael's older brother, Martin began writing scripts and radio plays. For days he sat at a desk, properly sending his opus to the editors and collecting denials. Only two scenarios were adopted - as in Australia. But the famous Martin McDonagh woke up when he received his "Queen of Beauty from Lienen", which he wrote in eight days.

Glory and numerous rewards fell on McDonough unexpectedly. His plays were put in both his native London and Broadway. However McDonough thinks the theater is only a step in the path to fame and is recognized in love for the cinema. And it answered him reciprocity: Martin received an Oscar for a short "Revolver", set in his own script.

"The Cripple of Inishmaan" - comedy - the first play from the trilogy on the Aran Islands, which also includes plays "The lieutenant from the island of Inishmore" and "Ghost from the island of Inisher". Aborigines live on the islands, which still speak only Gaelic language.
