The new opera "The Thrush King", created for our theater by the wonderful Kyiv composer Yuriy Shevchenko, will give the audience unforgettable emotions.

The plot of the tale is well known: the wayward daughter of the king, refusing all suitors and insulting them, in the end, against her will, was given away by her father to a beggar. This is an instructive and funny story about how, thanks to love, a cranky queen turns into a charming loving girl.

"The Thrush King" is a unique opera performed in a surprisingly beautiful Ukrainian language, created according to the laws of modern audience perception. Yury Shevchenko's wonderful music will be remembered for hit arias, recognizable leitmotifs, choirs, ensembles, duets and even opera rap. Spectacular and enchantingly theatrical, this performance fascinates with its unique stage drive, vibrant colors of scenery and fantasy costumes that transport the audience to a fairyland.

The main addressee of the play is children who are getting to know opera for the first time. However, it will also give great pleasure to their parents. At the end, everyone, without a doubt, will sing "Thrush" or "Chudasia" with pleasure and will remain under the impression of a real fairy tale for a long time - cheerful, witty and very kind.

The play was awarded the "Kyiv pectoral" prize and the All-Ukrainian festival-prize GRA in the nomination "best play for children" in 2018, the prize "for the best musical design" at the 3rd Kyiv international festival "pUp.pet", and the composer Yuriy Shevchenko received for this opera prize named after Viktor Kosenko (2019).
