Director Anatoly Khostikoev, through the brightness of the frankly theatrical action, which is saturated with spectacular musical numbers, felt and embodied in the performance a poignant note of nostalgia for the real real life that exists outside the carnival elements. The history of the theater began not in Odessa, but in Lviv in 1947. The young creative troupe staged various performances and quickly gained recognition, and in 1953 it was transferred to Odessa itself. Shows about the city and Odessans became real business cards of the theater, and the whole country quickly learned about the artists. In 1981, the Odesa Music Comedy moved from a small stage to a large one specially built for the theater, and in 2006 it was granted the status of "academic". Today, the Odessa Academic Theater of Musical Comedy is one of the most equipped and large stage venues in the city.
The theater hall has a capacity of 1,282 seats and is equipped with everything necessary for holding various types of events: modern acoustics and lighting allow for high-quality performances that are sure to please the audience.
