Performance "Mermaid's Easter" in Lviv
“The Mermaid’s Easter” is a dramatic operatic etude based on the lyrical-fantasy opera by the outstanding Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych, staged by Ivan Uryvsky. The artist, in turn, used the plot of the work by Boris Grinchenko for his work. The opera “The Mermaid’s Easter” became the first major symphonic work by Mykola Leontovych. The maestro intended to expand it, but it was not to be: the composer was treacherously murdered in January 1921. The history of the creation of the opera greatly interested the director Ivan Uryvsky, for whom the production became a real challenge.
A clash of fantasy and reality in an unusual production
A new modern interpretation of the mystical opera awaits you. The main character of the story is a Cossack who, on the eve of Trinity, walks along the banks of the Dnieper River and meets mermaids who seek to lure him underwater. The little mermaid comes to the boy's rescue, who then melts in the morning sunlight. A real meeting of the real and mythical worlds takes place, and invincible love turns out to be the strongest.
