A stand-up drama about Ukrainian refugees. This is a story that really wants to be told, a Ukrainian journey in retrospect.
Four Ukrainian women: Sasha, Masha, Dasha and Vitalina find themselves in a place they can't get out of. The girls cannot remember what brought them here. Trying to figure out where they are, the characters embark on a journey through their memories. They find themselves on an evacuation train; in a small town in Germany; in a Ukrainian city in the west of the country. Their memories stubbornly bring them back to the place where it all began. A city by the sea. And they finally remember...
"Once Upon a Time in Ukraine" shows the life of a Ukrainian refugee that will make you smile, giggle, yawn or turn away. Moments in which you will definitely recognize yourself. Moments from which you will not be able to escape. Or can you?...
