But the real popularity of Verona lovers gained in ballet thanks to the ingenious music of Sergei Prokofiev, which reached the level of Shakespeare's tragedy. A historic event was the production of "Romeo and Juliet", made by Leonid Lavrovsky in 1940. on the stage of the Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theater. This performance became a starting point for later interpretations, and Galina Ulanova's standard dance turned the image of Juliet into a symbol of hope and love.
