The first summer concert of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra combined masterpieces of classical music with modern music
Almost 200 years ago, in 1826, Felix Mendelssohn's concert overture "Summer Night's Dream" appeared. Mendelssohn was not initially going to supplement it with other parts, but because King Frederick William IV himself was fascinated by this music, the composer added 10 more numbers based on the plot of William Shakespeare's comedy of the same name, the most famous of which was the Wedding March. You can hear it every day in any registry office in the country, and we offer you to listen to the overture, from which it all began.
Mozart's most famous symphony - the fortieth, written in 1788 - does not require additional presentation. At least the first part of it can be sung by anyone who uses a mobile phone. That is really everyone. But we want to surprise you: the version of our chief conductor Luigi Gajero will be fresh and impressive.
Another surprise of the concert is the participation of one of the most famous double bass players of our time, Nick de Groot. Dutch musician Nick de Groot served as the first double bass solo in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra for ten years, after which he devoted himself to chamber music and solo performances since 2006. He has records on famous labels EMI, Nimbus, AUDITE and BIS. Since 2015, Nick de Groot has received the privilege of playing for life on the world-famous double bass work of master Domenico Montagnana in 1747.
Nick's concert "Lost Birds" by modern Swedish classic Anders Nilsson, was written in 2018 by the double bass player. The title of the work was impressed by the sound of the double bass and its rare role as a solo instrument in the concert. And the author was inspired by the opening track of King Crimson's album, "Islands", a favorite music of his youth.
Hilton Kyiv is a modern hotel in the heart of the capital, close to architectural monuments, business centers and embassies. The event will take place in the ballroom of the hotel - "Dallas", named after the first hotel under the brand "Hilton", which Conrad Hilton opened in 1925 in Dallas, Texas.
