Theater "Silver Island" in Kyiv: from the foundation to the present
Kyiv Theater "Silver Island" opened its first season in October 1997 with the production of the tragicomedy of the Polish classic Gabriela Zapolska "The Four of Them, or I'll Survive It!" The success of the performance inspired the team to continue creative activity, embodying a special concept - to accumulate and transmit to the audience the so-called "silver" energy, in which the eternal moral values of humanity are concentrated. Therefore, the creative troupe of the theater is actively expanding its repertoire and touring. Performances participate in theater festivals and projects. It is also necessary to note the openness of the "islanders" to international cooperation. One of the vivid examples was the "Silver Road to Young Hearts" project. The format has been running since 2002 with the support of UNICEF at the UN and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine. One of the performances of the project is an in-depth production of "Brothers" based on the play by the outstanding British playwright Martin McDonagh.
Having changed several locations over the course of its activity, today the Silver Island Theater is located at ul. Platona Maiboroda, 8. The artistic director of the theater is Lyudmila Lymar, Honored Artist of Ukraine. Under her wise guidance, a group of like-minded people, most of whom are young actors, continues the path they started, bringing bold creative ideas to life.
