Nytso Potvrno is a musical project of underground hip-hop artist Serhiy Husak, who successfully combines creativity with medical practice. Nytso Potvrno is the shadow side of Serhiy Husak's personality, the former leader of the bands Lady Junk and Husak. The artist was inspired by the gaming company Remedy Entertainment, whose game titles resembled the character's first and last name. This is how the telling nickname came about.
By medical education, Serhiy is an otolaryngologist. In parallel with his studies at the university, he worked as a junior nurse in the operating room. After graduation, he was sent on assignment to Zhytomyr, where he began working in the ambulance. After his internship, he decided to change his specialization and became an otolaryngologist. Serhiy Husak began performing at the age of 18, but he gained real popularity and recognition thanks to his blog on Twitter and Telegram. In his interviews, Nytso Potvorno notes that music is not his main activity. Publicity sometimes even gets in the way. After all, the artist loves writing tracks and creating albums. But concerts are not always easy. Most of the time, Serhiy works as a doctor. And on weekends, he often just wants to relax.
Creative path
The project Nytso Potvrno was launched by Serhiy Husak in 2019. At the same time, his discographic debut took place: the musician recorded an LP and two mini-albums:
- "Revolver 13." The release was included in the list of the best new releases of January 2019 according to LiRoom;
- "Politics, Love and Drunkenness." The album was recognized as one of the best albums of March 2019.
The lyrics of the artist's compositions are autobiographical in nature. Examples include the song "Reanimation" from the 2020 album of the same name. In his work, the singer uses his own experience. This allows you to look at life from a different perspective. After all, there is always an imperfect world nearby, where people find themselves in difficult situations, experience pain and loneliness. Such a reality may seem ugly due to the sharp contrast with the idealized images that are saturated with social networks. However, this is real life nearby, and it is its realities that the artist describes in his tracks. After the release of the album "Reanimation", Nytso Potvrono gained recognition in the music community. The release made it to the tops of the best Ukrainian albums of 2020 in many media. Tracks from the album have become entrenched in some charts.
The opposite meaning, compared to "Reanimation", is embedded in the 2021 album "Clean". The release symbolizes a new stage in the musician's life. It demonstrates cleansing from addictions and the desire for inner freedom. In the same year, a new mini-album "Theatre named after N. Potvorno" appeared, consisting of three tracks. One of the compositions was recorded in collaboration with Palindrome.
Nytso Potvorno's releases in 2022–2023 are significantly different from the previous ones. The musician is expanding the thematic horizons of his work, moving from personal themes to global ones. The influence of war is clearly evident in the latest tracks - the presence of the theme of death, hatred of the enemy, as well as deep emotionality and sharpness of feelings is felt. In particular, the role of love in this difficult time is emphasized. Speaking about the goal of his work, Nytso Potvorno focuses on the need to create something to diversify Ukrainian culture with his own identity. Gusak does not gather fans in large stadiums, but gives large solo concerts with sold-outs. He does not announce grand tours, does not target festival headliners. But at the same time he has no competitors in his genre. It is important for a performer to find his niche and stand out among others. The artist's songs are not commercial, but they are unique and very interesting.
Social activity
During the full-scale invasion, Sergey Husak began to voice the dialogues of the Russian occupiers for Toronto Television, sometimes appearing in the frame. The artist also began to actively conduct Twitter, which allowed him to reach a much wider audience. Nytso Potvrno's tweets are distinguished by their irony. Straightforward and sarcastic posts often appeal to musical themes. In the summer, before performing at the ATLAS UNITED 24 festival, the musician said in an interview that he had decided to sign a contract with the National Guard as an ENT doctor.

- Serhiy Husak calls “political bickering on the Internet and on sofas” the apotheosis of meanness and ugliness;
- In his free time, the musician likes to listen to compilations on Spotify. Songs by Ray Charles, Adele, Tyler, The Creator put him in the right mood;
- The artist notes that because of his stage name he is often perceived as a comedian. Although in reality (jokes Serhiy) in real life he is a “firefighter, a bandit and a glassblower.”
