Since 1987, guests of the capital and native Kyivans met the Kiev Academic Drama Theater in Podol. Artistic director of the Melpomene Church - People's Artist of Ukraine Vitaly Malakhov.

Located in the heart of Kiev, on the famous Andrew's descent, the theater keeps the historical memory of the city. Within its walls is dominated by His Majesty the Inspiration, and the surrounding buildings of the place remember the steps of the great Bulgakov, Lesya Ukrainka, Vrubel ...

Formation of the theater was a team of like minded people. After several years of tour activity, the theater is confirmed in academic status and wins high awards in such categories as "Best Direction", "Best Acting Debut", "Best Actor" and others.

Today the repertoire of the theater consists of more than 50 productions based on the works of Shakespeare, Pushkin, Gogol, Chekhov, Bulgakov, as well as modern playwrights: "Innkeeper", "Pharaohs", "Dead Souls", "One Hundred Thousand" and much more.

The performances of the theater in Podol are played by the People's Artist of Ukraine Vladimir Goryansky; People's Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the National Prize of Ukraine. Taras Shevchenko Bogdan Benyuk; Honored Art Worker of Ukraine Timur Polyansky. Many actors of the theatrical troupe bear the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine.
