Transcarpathian regional music and drama theater in Uzhhorod: history and location
The Transcarpathian Academic Regional Music and Drama Theater named after the brothers Yuriy Augustyn and Yevhen Sheregiiv is one of the leading theaters in Transcarpathia. The institution is known for its performances based on works of classics of Ukrainian and world literature, as well as original productions that give a special sound and character to the national color and history of Transcarpathia.
The Uzhgorod Drama Theater actively cooperates with other theaters of Ukraine and Europe, participates in various festivals and competitions, and also conducts tours abroad. The team makes a significant contribution to the development of culture and art in Transcarpathia and Ukraine.
Transcarpathian Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater was founded on January 1, 1946. The theater began its activities on November 7, 1946 with the play "Under the Chestnuts of Prague" by K. Simonov. In 1957, the theater was renamed the Transcarpathian Ukrainian Drama Theater named after Oleksandr Dukhnovych, and in 1962 the institution received its current name. The theater building is located at street I. Chendeya, 12.
During the period of its existence, the music-drama theater in Uzhgorod presented to the audience several hundred performances based on the plays of Ukrainian and world classics. The geography of the touring trips of Transcarpathian artists is very large. The team visited Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Romania and other countries.
