A fascinating story, colorful costumes, the magic of Hutsul traditions, love with a touch of legend, and music that captivates from the first chords – all this is a bright folk musical “Hutsulka Ksenya”, which everyone should see.
The performance “Hutsulka Ksenya” in Odesa will take place at the Musical Comedy Theater (OATMK named after M. Vodyany).
We invite you to the dynamic folk musical "Hutsulka Ksenya", where folk folklore, romantic history and subtle social intonation are organically intertwined. The author of the music and libretto is Yaroslav Barnych, a composer who is considered the founder of modern Ukrainian operetta. The artist boldly combined light music with the style of a tango song. It was based on the composition of the same name that the operetta "Hutsulka Ksenya" was born in 1938, which still attracts full houses and sincere ovations today.
The director is Vitaly Sinikov.
The musical takes place in the Carpathians in 1938. A young American with Ukrainian roots, Yaro Dedelyuk, arrives at the "Hoverla" tourist lodge with his uncle Michael. He reveals to his nephew an important condition of the will: the inheritance is possible only if he marries a Ukrainian woman. It is here that Yaro meets Ksenya - a sincere, beautiful Hutsul girl. Will this meeting be truly fateful? On the way to the answer, the heroes are accompanied by comedic confusions, lyrical songs and incendiary dances.
The director of the play Vitaly Sinikov sees in this story clear parallels with our present: modern Ukraine, like the characters of the operetta, is faced with a choice between the loss of identity and loyalty to its own roots. That is why the musical sounds relevant and truly alive, delicately reminding of the value of cultural memory and spiritual revival.
The duration of the play is 2 hours and 10 minutes.
