Kamianets-Podilskyi City House of Culture: From Its Founding to the Present Day
A true flagship of cultural life in modern Kamianets-Podilskyi appeared on the city map in 1990, when a building was erected at the corner of Bohodільnytska and Bulvarna Streets, known at the time as the «Pushkin People's House». However, the venue had first opened its doors to visitors as early as January 3, 1901. Later, the building was named the Shevchenko Theater. After the professional theater company finally moved out, the building began to be used as the city House of Culture.
Throughout its history, the institution has played a significant role in organizing leisure activities for residents of the city and region and has received several honorary distinctions, including two wins in a review competition for urban club-type cultural institutions.
Architectural Features, Capacity, and Location
The building was constructed in the Neo-Renaissance style with Baroque elements. Its unusual angle relative to the intersection creates a cozy square in front of the entrance. The structure features a facade elegantly decorated with stucco ornamentation. The building also has large arched windows and retains its classic tiered theater layout inside.
The main auditorium has a dress circle and can comfortably accommodate 800 visitors. The presence of a full orchestra pit significantly expands the House of Culture's functionality, allowing it to host both music concerts and large-scale ballet performances.
The Kamianets-Podilskyi City House of Culture is located in the city center at 20 Shevchenko Street, right next to a park, and is easy to reach from all parts of the city.
