"La Traviata" staged by Radu Poklitaru is a touching and emotionally rich performance, permeated with love for the great operatic source - the work of Giuseppe Verdi. Violetta's story appears as a hymn to self-sacrifice, devotion and the power of feelings that can change fate. Like the heroine of "Carmen.TV", with whom the history of the Kyiv Modern Ballet Theater began, Violetta personifies an indomitable desire for love. Despite different characters and circumstances, they are united by the main thing - the ability to defend their right to feelings, even at the cost of their own lives.
This production is a romantic confession of love for the art of opera, embodied by means of modern choreography. The plasticity of the body, the dramaturgy of movement, and emotional expressiveness create a new, profound reading of a familiar plot.
The stage space is filled with complex multimedia video content, a rich light score, and author's conceptual costumes. All of this forms a multi-layered theatrical universe in which the viewer is completely immersed in the emotions and atmosphere of the performance.
The ballet "La Traviata" was created as part of the "20 Seasons of Sustainability and Innovation" initiative with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and the budget of the city of Kyiv. It is an example of how a classic can sound modern and relevant.
