History of the band
Fidel's Children is a vibrant Ukrainian band that has been impressing the audience with its professionalism, distinctive style and original take on famous world hits for many years. The group brings together first-class musicians who perform popular songs and give them a new sound, creating their own arrangements and unique sound. It is thanks to this approach that each concert of the group turns into a special musical event.
The history of the group began in Odessa in 2000. The founders and permanent leaders of the group were Oleksandr Mazur and Oleksiy Svidersky. According to Oleksiy, it all started on the legendary Deribasovskaya, where the popular Latin American music bar "Fidel" operated. It was there that talented artists who were passionate about Cuban culture and music regularly gathered. The atmosphere of creativity, improvisation and live communication gradually united the musicians into a group that later received the name Fidel's Children. Over time, new performers joined the founders Oleksandr Mazur and Oleksiy Svidersky, forming a powerful team of like-minded people.
Creative path
Over more than a quarter of a century of existence, the band has gone through many changes. The members have changed, the repertoire has expanded, the style and manner of performance have improved, but the high professional level of the musicians and the love of the fans have remained unchanged. The band has actively toured, giving concerts in various cities of Ukraine and neighboring countries, gaining new fans and strengthening its own popularity.
The true face of the band remains its soloists, who give each composition a special mood and character. Oleksandr Mazur conquers listeners with a strong voice, universal timbre and natural charisma, which always attracts the attention of the audience. At the same time, Oleksiy Svidersky not only performs as a vocalist, but also demonstrates himself as a talented multi-instrumentalist. Over the years of his work, he has masterfully accompanied on the saxophone, percussion and synthesizer, adding new colors to the performances.
An important role in the sound of the group is also played by Hanna Kokhanchyk, the permanent soloist of the group, responsible for the powerful female vocals, which are especially brightly revealed during the performance of legendary world hits.
During large-scale performances, in particular summer open-air concerts, up to eight artists work on stage at the same time. This composition allows you to create a full-fledged live show with live drums, guitars, a brass section, trumpets and a rich vocal line, which gives listeners the real energy of live music.
Style and creative development
At the beginning of their creative path, Fidel's Children performed compositions mainly in the genres of jazz, funk and rock music. However, over the years, the group was not afraid to experiment and gradually expanded its musical horizons. Modern dance rhythms, popular world hits and new stylistic solutions began to be added to the repertoire.
Today, the band's music organically combines Latin motifs, funk, dance energy and well-known compositions in a fresh, original interpretation. Each concert of the band resembles a big holiday, where positive emotions, drive and a relaxed atmosphere reign. That is why the band's work is often associated with a feeling of carefree summer, warmth and bright memories.
Over the years of its activity, Fidel's Children have grown from a local Odesa project into a famous cover band that confidently occupies its place in the Ukrainian music industry. The band is constantly working on new arrangements, experimenting with the sound and composition of the participants, but at the same time maintaining its own recognizable charisma and corporate style.
The most famous hits performed by the band:
- Crazy in Love (Beyoncé);
- a medley of Bruno Mars hits (in particular, Uptown Funk and 24K Magic);
- covers of Stevie Wonder and James Brown hits;
- modern dance European and Latin American hits.
Today, the band is a regular participant in the concert life of Odesa and other cities of Ukraine. The musicians regularly perform at famous venues and cultural spaces, including the UNION concert hall and the Public Beach Club. In addition, Fidel's Children often become guests of large-scale city holidays, festivals, corporate events and private events, where their songs invariably find a response from listeners of all ages.
