International Cultural Center "UNION": a multifunctional space in the historical center of Odesa

The International Cultural Center "UNION" (UNION) is an important center of cultural and artistic life of Odessa, which meets friends at the address: 43 Troitskaya St. The building of the institution has a rich history. At the beginning of the last century, concerts of famous composers, musicians and poets were held here.

Throughout its history, the Union functioned as a cultural institution and was officially included in the list of halls of the House of Jewish Culture. After World War II, the space received a new status - the Palace of Culture of Railway Workers.

Architecture-wise, the building of the "UNION" center is made in the style of the Florentine Renaissance, which gives it a distinct historical recognition. The last major renovation was carried out here in the 1950s. And after a large-scale restoration in 2023, the building acquired new features, combining the authenticity of the early 20th century - stained glass windows and original architectural details - with modern lighting and sound equipment. The first public event in the renovated UNION was the celebrations on the occasion of Europe Day. The event was attended by one of the most active lobbyists supporting Ukraine in Washington - former US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker.

The idea of ​​creating a multicultural center arose in 2021, when, by order of the Odesa mayor, a new collegial body was formed - the Council of the Odessa Association of Nationalities. The main goal of the association was to promote the development and interaction of the city's national and cultural societies. The Council included 36 representatives of national minority organizations living in Odessa. It was at one of the meetings that a proposal was made to create a space capable of uniting the cultures and traditions of different peoples under one roof.

Features of the UNION Center in Odesa

Today, UNION is a modern cultural center that combines a museum, gallery, conference rooms, an expo space, and a concert hall. The space has three floors for events, underground galleries, and a cozy courtyard garden designed for relaxation and intimate events. The UNION International Cultural Center has the following venues for holding various events:

• Euroatlantic Even Hall – UNION’s concert hall, adapted for concerts, festivals, conferences, and events of various formats. The space is equipped with a stage, professional sound and lighting equipment, and a 5-by-3-meter screen. The hall is easily transformed for different types of events and seating arrangements;
• Churchill Room for lectures on culture and art, meetings, and discussions. The space is designed for 10 seats;
• Italian Garden – a cozy courtyard of UNION, suitable for concerts, lectures, festivals and private events. The location can accommodate up to 500 visitors;
• Wine Room Museum, designed for lectures, master classes, tastings and meetings. The space is equipped with 16 seats;
• LIT Club UNESCO – a hall for 70 visitors, designed for intellectual discussions, literary evenings, lectures;
• Museum galleries (including underground ones), where exhibitions of paintings, art objects, lectures and master classes are held;
• Conference hall for 30 seats for meetings and negotiations.
