PK "Shynnyk" in Dnipro: history and location of the popular venue
PK "Shynnyk" is one of the most famous concert venues in Dnipro and the surrounding area. For over 50 years, popular performers and creative groups have been regularly performing here. The history of the institution dates back to the 1970s, when high-rise buildings were actively built along Dnipropetrovska Street for employees of the tire factory and the press factory. Along with housing, there was a need for a large palace of culture, which was then taken over by the tire factory.The grand opening of the PC "Shynnyk" took place on April 20, 1973. For its time, it was a large-scale public and cultural building with a full range of opportunities for organizing and conducting leisure activities for residents of the district. Already in the first year of operation, the palace became a center of creative life - numerous ensembles, clubs and groups based on interests appeared here.
The cultural and sports complex "Shynnyk" is located in the southern part of the Dnipro at 118-A Bohdana Khmelnytskyi Avenue. The building is located next to the "Dniproshyna" plant on one of the main transport highways of the regional center.
Capacity and architectural features
The building was built according to a typical Soviet project, so Shinnyk has its "architectural twins" in many cities. At the same time, the interiors are distinguished by their spaciousness and expressiveness: wide lobbies, the shine of polished wood, mosaics and metal create a feeling of scale and solemnity.The main concert hall is designed for 1,138 spectators and has good acoustics, modern sound and lighting equipment. The palace also has a small hall for 200 seats, which allows for holding events of various formats.
Events taking place at the Palace of Culture "Shynnyk"
Today, the PC "Shynnyk" remains a recognizable concert platform of the city. In different years, Artem Pyvovarov, MONATIK, the bands Antitila, BEZ OBMEZHEN, 100lytsia, the NAONI orchestra and many other famous artists and groups performed on its stage. In 2021, the Creative Space "Shynnyk-ArtTerritory" was created on the basis of the Cultural and Sports Complex "Shynnyk". Since then, the following events have been held at the location:- evenings of contemporary and classical music;
- concerts by music stars and young artists and bands;
- stand-up shows and programs of humorous projects;
- concerts by local creative groups and guests from other cities of Ukraine;
- performances by famous creative groups of the city and touring performances by theater troupes;
- creative evenings by prominent artists;
- sports events;
- master classes, seminars, conferences, trainings and many other events.
