Zakarpattia Regional Philharmonic: history and location

The Zakarpattia Regional Philharmonic was founded in 1946 with the aim of popularizing the best examples of world musical culture and developing professional performing arts in the territory of Zakarpattia. The Uzhgorod Philharmonic became the basis for the creation of the Zakarpattia Song and Dance Ensemble, symphony and brass orchestras, and a variety ensemble. Once it was the building of a former synagogue, and in 1947 it was finally transferred to the newly created philharmonic. In 1957, the synagogue became a philharmonic forever. Unfortunately, today most of the decor has not been preserved, you can see only the remains of its former beauty. However, this does not negate the fact that the walls of the Uzhhorod Philharmonic have hosted a variety of high-level performances with famous musicians and groups.

The Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic organizes and holds concerts of various genres of music - classical, folk, jazz and others. It cooperates with other musical institutions in Ukraine and Europe - both domestic and foreign performers, as well as musicians from Transcarpathia, perform here. The Uzhhorod Philharmonic is not only a musical institution, but also a cultural center of the city. Art exhibitions, literary and other cultural events are held here. Ticket offices and cafes are also open for visitors to the Philharmonic.
