Promprylad in Ivano-Frankivsk: a Space Where the Tandem of Urbanism and Culture Is Shaping the Future Today

Promprylad is a living ecosystem, the true heart of creative Ivano-Frankivsk, beating to the rhythm of large-scale creative and social innovations. Here, creativity is not thought of in abstract terms. At Promprylad, the concepts of creativity and the flight of imagination take on entirely tangible – expressive and vibrant – forms. Today, this center, where art, education and urban vibes intersect, is one of the best-known in Ukraine.

History and Location

Promprylad is located at 23 Akademika Sakharova Street, almost in the center of Ivano-Frankivsk, so it is convenient to get here both on foot and by public transport from the City Hall or railway station. The territory of the former factory has long ceased to be simply an industrial zone: today, behind the main entrance, there is a space with an inner courtyard, coworking spaces, a food market and areas for work, creativity and communication.

The idea for Promprylad emerged as a response to the need to give new life to an industrial area that had lost its former economic function, while also creating a place for active urban communities – artists, entrepreneurs, activists and social innovators – to interact. The concept grew in many ways from the experience of the Urban Space 100 community restaurant.

The project was launched in 2015 with the development of the concept and the formation of a team of partners. The following year, the history of the factory and the potential of the region were studied, and in 2017, reconstruction began on 1,783 m² on the third floor of the third building. By March 2018, a pilot space with a coworking area, conference hall, workshops, laboratories, gallery, children's areas, café and offices was already operating.

Structure of the Center

After 2022, Promprylad strengthened its position on the country's cultural and business map. The space welcomed relocated creative teams, businesses and civil society organizations from different regions of Ukraine, becoming a place where new collaborations and ideas are constantly emerging.

Today, the total area of the complex is 47,422 m², and more than 600 events take place here every year. The entire structure is built as a multifunctional system where four main areas intersect – new economy, urbanism, contemporary art and informal education. It is this combination that makes Promprylad not simply an event venue, but a living environment where work, culture and urban life coexist.

Among the main event and community spaces:

• an event hall for 650 people;
• 2 conference halls (for 45 and 60 people);
• an inner courtyard and summer terrace;
• the multifunctional creative space Art-Ceсh;
• the large-scale Foodoteka food market and more.

Technical Features of the Event Hall and Summer Stage

For events at Promprylad, there is a fully equipped event hall with a mobile stage, acoustic partitions for flexible zoning and a multimedia wall with additional LED screens. The space is equipped with a professional audio system, wireless microphones and the necessary connections for technical equipment.

During the warm season, events move to the inner courtyard, where a summer stage operates. It features basic sound and lighting, a separate dressing room for performers, while soft decorative lighting adds to the evening atmosphere.

Events Held at the Promprylad Venue

Life is always bustling at Promprylad's venues. The complex's various spaces – from the event hall and terrace to Foodoteka and the art center – serve as venues for events of different kinds. These include:

• music concerts, dance parties and festivals;
• theatre performances;
• stand-up shows;
• creative evenings, seminars and presentations;
• contemporary art exhibitions, conceptual performances and more.

Among the events that have attracted audiences to the Promprylad center in recent years are concerts by YAGODY, Tember Blanche and Susidy Sterplyat; the DJ & Symphony Show; the series of jazz concerts I'm Alive and much more.
